Pentarch Stevedoring, Logistics and Port Services

Pentarch Stevedoring is a success story of local innovation and expertise.

Pentarch Stevedoring is a success story of local innovation and expertise with its Port of Eden operation providing a one-stop stevedoring, trucking and marshalling solution.

The service was initially developed to facilitate export of plantation logs when the multipurpose wharf at the Port of Eden was built in 2004. Since then, the business has loaded 4.25 million cubic metres of logs from the 200m-long and 30m-wide multi-purpose berth, with a 10.5m draft.

Meanwhile, Pentarch Stevedoring has loaded more than 3 million tonnes of woodchips at the adjacent Australian Natural Wood Enterprises woodchip jetty after bringing the loading process in house.

The backbone of Pentarch Stevedoring are the 25 local workers with a range of expertise across all aspects of maritime freight handling. They form the largest part-time port stevedoring operation in Australia and provide much more than log and woodchip handling.

Our highly skilled staff are experts in cargo handling and finding solutions to material handling problems. Alongside the primary role of loading forestry products, Pentarch Stevedoring have helped facilitate the imports of various project cargoes such as wind turbines, pilings, piping, large scale mooring dolphins for the Eden Cruise wharf and explosives.

The operation is licensed to handle Class 1 Dangerous Good (explosives) up to 30 MT NEQ. The wharf has been used to facilitate the transport of components for a major infrastructure project and provided ship-loading and export solutions for a nearby iron ore mine.

Our workforce can also travel to remote regions to provide supplementary support for log-loading operations as well as helping to train local operators in efficient loading procedures.

The range of equipment at the wharf, including 10 prime movers, ensures fast and efficient movement of goods from 8ha hard stand storage yard to ship cargo hold or to take delivery from the vessel.

The Port of Eden has plenty of scope to increase trade with Pentarch Stevedoring and Pentarch Logistics well positioned to handle further bulk trade as well as offshore wind, oil & gas projects. Eden is the only deep sea port between Port Kembla and Western Port in Victoria, with b-double roading located conveniently to the Princess Freeway.

There is ample storage and growth development opportunity at the Port of Eden with Pentarch’s land footprint and integrated cargo handling and stevedoring expertise.
