Softwood underpins the Australian building industry with machine grade pine products sourced from radiata pine plantations.
The softwood mill at Oberon, 195km west of Sydney in NSW, has been producing softwood timber products for housing construction for more than 70 years, and built on its success to become a sector leader as part of Boral Timber and Building Products. It became part of Pentarch Forestry™ in 2022.
The mill is part of a forest products mega site, which includes particle board and MDF plants, separate businesses which are supplied by the Pentarch operation as part of its whole-of-tree usage policy. Rough-sawn structural grade timber and moulded timber make up a large part of the range of certified structural framing products for the building industry, as well as pallets and packaging for domestic markets. These are distributed across domestic markets.
